At Little Whim Prints, we believe enchanting decor and hands-on learning will ignite children’s curiosity and support early development.

Little Whim Prints was founded in 2024 by Margo Nelson who wanted to pair her love of painting and illustration with the mission of creating enchanting wall decor and Montessori activities for children. Our goal is to help parents cultivate engaging environments and foster hands-on learning for their little ones. Animals and the natural world are a significant inspiration for our artistic themes. We believe in the importance of protecting them, so we donate 10% of profits to environmental causes or plant a tree on your child’s behalf, ensuring that each purchase contributes to a greener future.

Meet Margo

Hello! Here is a bit about my story and how it led me to create Little Whim Prints. I have always loved painting and illustration but my journey into the world of children's decor and educational products started when I was a textile designer for a home decor company specializing in products for kids. I designed everything from whale-shaped pillows to butterfly-printed comforters and during the process discovered my love for creating whimsical designs that ignite children’s curiosity. After leaving that role, I launched Little Whim Prints, focusing on decor for nurseries and playrooms, as well as montessori activities that parents can print from home.

Today, my goal is to create illustrations and products that spark children’s  imagination. I want parents to have decor that's not only functional, and educational but also enhances their children's environments with beauty and joy. I also aim to nurture a sense of wonder and respect for the natural world and inspire future generations to cherish and protect it.

My Process

In my home studio, I hand-paint each illustration with gouache or digitally paint with Procreate. Often I will paint each image separately then assemble them together in a layout before preparing the file to print.

When a customer buys a digital download, they instantly receive high-quality, 300dpi files ready for printing.

For physical prints, customers are shipped high-quality giclée prints on archival paper, produced by a USA-based printer. Each print is made on demand, reducing overproduction and waste.

Our giclée prints stand out due to the use of specialized wide-format printers and pigment-based inks, ensuring longevity and resistance to smudging, sunlight, and humidity. By using acid-free archival paper, we guarantee our prints remain in excellent condition for years, outlasting art prints made with regular paper.
